Endodontic Disinfection

Power of the Hand-Held Syringe

The dental assistant passes the irrigating syringe with a cupped hand. The doctor holds the irrigating syringe and always keeps it in motion when dispensing irrigant to prevent the needle from inadvertently locking up in the canal. Slowly injecting irrigant in combination with continuous hand movement will virtually eliminate sodium hypochlorite accidents.

In this Just-In-Time segment, Dr. Ruddle will show you how to properly handle the irrigating syringe. Passive irrigation, in conjunction with proper technique, can be quite powerful!
